[Picture from Wikipedia] Stanislav Gomulka – world famous economist . Left Poland with his family when he was 10 just as WWII was starting. Has held positions at Penn, Stanford, Columbia, Harvard but mostly London School of Economics. Reportedly was forced into a psychiatric hospital at Harvard but was able to escape to London School of Economics. Most of the world recognizes his economic ideas for being the greatest reason for the fall of the Iron Curtain. As far as I know he is still alive and still not recognized by a Nobel Prize.
